Thoroughly comfortable is the simplest way to explain the 500 Ortho hybrid mattress by REM-Fit. This bed-in-a box is a supportively firm mattress, if you're at all concerned about a hybrid mattress being too soft but you still want a bit of that sink-in feeling you get from a purely foam mattress—this is the one to get.
One of the most impressive traits about the 500 Ortho is its ability to isolate any motion transfer from one side of the bed to the other—if you share a bed with an all night toss'n turn type this mattress could not be more of a gift.
We also found the 'cool gel infused memory foam' top layer did a good job of moisture wicking sticky nights during last months heat wave—combined with the more dense Midiflex memory foam layer beneath, and you get that extra squish without feeling like you're laying on a giant pile of cotton wool.
2000 tall pocket springs and a high density foam base are set within foam encapsulated sidewalls—this is important to note because it means you get edge-to-edge support which not only helps ensure an even distribution of weight but also helps prevent the edges from sagging.
As with almost all mattresses that use foam, off-gasing will occur for about a day or two before the brand-new mattress smell goes away completely. But it does go away and quicker than most.
This is a great mattress for co-sleepers and anyone who wants the support of a pocket sprung bed with the gentle, dreamy feeling of memory foam.
